Mark photographed our wedding in Calabasas last month and did an AMAZING job! He also did our engagement photos which were absolutely beautiful! All of the pictures were breathtaking! Yep, I've worked with P.J. and his family many times. They're so welcoming and such a wonderful group of people. I always love spending time with this wonderful bunch. Although not a Scotsman P.J. always seemed to have a knack for finding the rarest, most perfect malt Scotch whisky - Mazel-tov!

We have now had the pleasure of working with Mark for both of our daughters' Bat Mitzvahs, 5 years apart. He is a wonderful professional who adds calm and experience to a hectic day and night. It was amazing coming back years later to shoot Lauri and David's second beautiful younger daughter. They are wonderful parents with lovely, bright, charming daughters. My only regret is that they don't have any more kids!

I was shopping around for a good photographer to cover my kid's 1st birthday. Upon checking yelp reviews, packages/rates offered and going through their individual work, we decided to go ahead with Mark and are extremely happy with that decision. Sandy and Julio, Julio y Sandy. Their Latin warmth was intoxicating. Julio was romantic, singing a song and wooing his gorgeous bride right there on the altar with an unbelievable serenade. Mucho gusto! Sandy and her family were so charming and kind. Her friends hit me up during the reception for family group photos and it was all I could do not to go on all night long - the very best sort of folks. Muy simpatico. Sandy and Julio were so accommodating and photogenic - I just let the camera roll. Sandy was gorgeous as you can see by the pix...now you know why Julio fell in love with her. They make you want to improve your Spanish just so you can spend more time with this beautiful couple.

Mark is by far the best photographer I've ever met. His photos are amazing and he is a true pleasure to be around, he really felt like one of the family and is super sweet and professional.

I was so surprised when he sent us some of our wedding shots only two days after the wedding so we wouldn't have to wait while the others were being edited, they were just breathtaking and he truly captured the moment. Thank you Mark we will be using you again!

Amazing Photos and Video from Mark!

We are so so glad we had Mark for our engagement photos, and both our small intimate wedding ceremony and large family/friends ceremony and reception! Our theme was “under the stars” and so we did our engagement photos at Griffith Observatory. The photos came out amazing and we had so much fun. We used the photos for our Save the Dates and wedding website. The photos and videos from our two ceremonies came out beautiful and the video gave a chance to family who couldn’t make the wedding to experience our happy day. Mark sent us prints of our photos and copies of all the pictures and videos in a beautiful and personalized box with matching personalized usbs. Michelle and Jeff were so kind, so easy-going and such good sports - we kinda took over the Griffith Park Observatory for the "under the stars" shoot and everyone there seemed to enjoy being part of the love and romance. Michelle and Jeff were so elegant (after a few nifty wardrobe changes) and onlookers smiled, stared admiringly and went "ooh and ahh". It was like the scene from La La Land in Griffith Park and the magic didn't stop there. Yep, Michelle and Jeff danced their way into my heart at the engagement shoot and on to the small church wedding and then the large\family do at the Skirball where these two did an amazing rendition of that famous movie dance. It passed my "goosebumps" test. Superb. And yes I got it all on video from multiple camera angles. I only wish there was a third wedding of theirs to photograph - I'd be there tomorrow.

Meagan and Jacob had the kind of wedding you wanted to photograph over and over. They were simply the most charming, delightful and photogenic couple you could ask for. Big Sur, engagement photos on the beach, cliffs and sea mist - it's the sort of stuff you arrange at a styled wedding (posed shoot) but here it was for real and they were gorgeous!

Mark is a really great photographer. He is super creative and he really seems to love what he does. He makes you feel very comfortable being photographed which isn't always the case for me. Good friends are the whole world to each other and Priscilla and Phil’s friends were the very best bunch. This was a backyard wedding with some style indeed. The guys looked amazing in matching suits and Priscilla’s laugh and charm (watch the video) had me entranced. It was one of those weddings where there was so much love and deep friendship being shown that I wished I too could have grown up with this gang. Oh, to have friends like this! The support, the love, the family was all on display and I just sorta mingled in and absorbed all that positive energy. What a day, what a night.

Mark is AMAZING! He is a very talented photographer who takes great pics but he also makes everyone feel very comfortable from the beginning. We had the fortunate experience of getting to do several shoots with him and he truly felt like a long time friend that does amazing work. We did do several shoots and each time it was more fun with Karen and Jonathan and baby Lucas. The Palisades in Santa Monica, the family shoot on the beach and then the amazing Topanga Canyon wedding - Mazel-tov! I was witness to a couple of the most moving reception speeches of my career. It was memorable and joyous and a real family event. Karen was beautiful as you can see, always a good sport and Jonathan? He was the most touching groom, tearful, playful and (look at the pix) just crazy in love with his gorgeous Karen. The cat who got the cream. A gentleman ten times over. The kind of groom you bump into at a wedding and wish: “I wish I had a friend like that.” I just didn’t’ want these folks to move out of state but thank goodness for social media. I’ll miss ‘em. I am missing them already.

Mark was amazing. From a year before our wedding, he worked with me to find a reasonable price within our budget and everything exceeded expectations. Our engagement photos were included in the package and we received them within three days of the shoot. He helped pick out sites for our photo shoot for the actual day of the wedding. I booked two photographers for 10 hours on a very long and complicated wedding day. He and Debbie, the other photographer, were prompt and ready to go at 10am and we're extremely flexible with the entire schedule. There were photos done in Woodland Hills, Simi Valley, The Santa Monica mountains and finally Malibu. Mark kindly rode on our crazy limo bus between the church and wedding venue while Debbie went early to capture all the little details at Duke's. I never had any specific shots in mind but they were great at getting our attention and capturing so many photos and the beautiful sunset and scenery at our beachside venue. Lastly, they went above and beyond what was expected and stayed all night until the last guests left at 11pm. Here are some photos of his amazing work. Digital wedding photos and our photo box arrived within 3 week of the wedding. He and Debbie were so much fun and just became part of the family. Everything was amazing, I would highly recommend him for all of your photography needs!

We booked Mark for our April 2013 wedding aboard the Scarlett Belle in Oxnard, CA and we could not have been more happy with him! My husband wanted a photographer with a photojournalist look to his pictures and fun candid shots and Mark really fit the bill. He was very flexible with us and explored fun ideas for wedding shots. Sure we got the regular posed pictures but Mark also got some amazing gems that were candid and unplanned (by us anyway). Not only were the wedding pictures amazing but also Mark was the nicest person to work with. He fit in quite well with both of our families and everyone (especially my dad) loved him. I definitely thought I would feel awkward with some guy following me around with a camera all day but Mark made it very easy and comfortable to be a bride! He really did and excellent job in every way! I highly recommend him as your wedding photographer!

We booked Mark for our recent Mission Hills wedding at the beginning of this month. The pictures are spectacular! The true essence of our feelings truly show in every shot! Mark was an absolute delight to have at our wedding! Our photos came out so perfect. I really wanted to have candid photos more than staged/posed and I couldn't be any happier with what he captured. I'm not the most photogenic nor confident so I hate pictures of myself but the absolute joy mark captured I cant even pick which one I love the most! Aside from the amazing photos I had multiple guests approach me to tell me how much they liked him. He really made our day oh so special and I 1000% recommend him! :)

I hired Mark to capture a henna party hosted at my house, and by the end of the night I knew he would be my family's new go-to photographer. Mark is so so responsive, respectful, and easy to work with. And his prices are also very reasonable too. My family and I really appreciated that Mark came early to capture all of the guests' arrivals. He was dressed in a beautiful black suit and totally blended in with all the other guests. My family and I feel like the photos he took at the party are magazine-worthy; they are that amazing. He is just so great at capturing raw emotion and sweet, special moments. We also loved how quickly he was able to return the photos to us. We got them back within a few days. Once Mark was done, according to the time allotted in the contract, we asked him to stay and hang out with us because we enjoyed him that much. He's just a genuine, good guy and added such a warm and happy energy to the day. He also makes you feel comfortable in front of the camera, which is so important for a photographer. Mark Laing is spectacular and 5 stars are not enough!!!!

Mark arrived approximately 30 minutes earlier than his committed time which was wonderful and it only got better. He has such an awesome personality, he's fun, he knows his craft, he understand how to engage you in the process of taking photos which will be with you for the duration without making you feel ridiculous or phony. The time Mark spent with us seemed like a cake walk (just not as delicious as our wedding cake). Then there's the photos -- we had an intimate wedding with people who are very important to us and Mark took AMAZING pictures that truly capture our very essence. As we scroll through the site we think dang (okay DAMN) these are crazy beautiful. Mark's pictures are a story of your precious day and you will be delighted with the outcome. We have already shared our experience and two of our friends plan to hire Mark for their wedding event. Know this, you cannot go wrong with this wonderful gentleman. You will never work with another photographer again after hiring Mark Laing. Mark is not only an extremely creative and talented photographer, he is also very professional and totally reliable. Our family hired Mark for photography and video services on two separate occasions; my son's bar mitzvah and my daughter's bat mitzvah.

Mark over-delivered on both occasions. Judging from the quality of the finished product (photos and video edits), he put far more time into completing the work than is reasonable for the modest fee he charges.

Davita looking to all intents like the Hindu Goddess Lakshmi incarnate - gorgeous, perfect and irresistible in silk saris with additional dress changes for the reception, no less. And Michael with his leading man looks and amazing speaking skills - the two of them a photographer’s dream couple. But their physical presence was outshone by their spiritual beauty, their kindness, the warmth of their family and friends, the love on display and the sheer spirituality of the day. Well, I was the one who was truly blessed to be part of Dean and Darlene's day. Not to mention his gorgeous daughter and new son-in-law. I wore my cowboy boots and hat to fit in -- the horse ranch and beautiful brides did the rest.

Jen’s wonderful sister Michelle booked me as a videographer for their beach wedding in September 2016 and I watched in awe as these beautiful people took their vows in a wonderful bilingual Spanish\English wedding. My Spanish is pretty rusty but as their friend read their vows I could understand every word. I felt it. It was glorious. As I edited their video (I just shot the video this time) I kept going back over the cheeky looks Jen gave Javi and her sister. The smiles were intoxicating. The waves were crashing on the beach, the sea breeze was blowing and the guests were digging it. An Amtrak train roared by in the middle of the ceremony (the tracks are right next to the beach!) and it just added to the atmosphere. It was so foggy my gear was getting covered in water, but none of that mattered - I was filming magic. Magical love. And I did fall in love with this gorgeous couple. You couldn’t help it - they WERE completely in the moment. I guess I always get a bit caught up when shooting weddings but with Jen and Javi it was love at first sight - reminds me of my own wedding and how much I love MY wife. I guess I’m turning into a wedding groupie?

We are so happy that we had Mark for our big day!!

We hired Mark to take video of our wedding on 8/20/16. We had already secured photographers, and only decided to add video pretty last minute (about a month before the big day). Mark was very responsive via email (given that we live out of state from the wedding/Mark) and his prices are reasonable.

We liked his work that we found online, and are thrilled that we chose him! Not only were the final products amazing and fast (he got us a sneak peek video within days of the wedding!), he was so warm, kind, happy and fun to speak with. Our family even told us how kind he was and love the videos as well!

I don't know what else to say that hasn't already been said by so many other reviews. If you are looking for a photographer or videographer, this is the guy!

A big thank you to Mark for capturing the joy and beauty of our special day in spectacular images and also for being a top notch guy. Wedding planning is tough business, and you don't know what you're going to get in hiring a vendor to help make your day a success. A signed contract does not guarantee great performance. Mark Laing proved to be a sure bet straight away. We didn't meet in person until we walked in the door of our venue in Malibu that bright October day, and Mark was already there scouting the location, prepped and ready to shoot. Mark is a great guy. Gregarious and true, real, and a consummate professional, he immediately put us at ease and made the requisite pre-ceremony photo-ops great fun. We played on the beach and Mark gave us beautiful, natural images with which to forever remember those fleeting moments before we were to become the focus of our guest's attention. And with his images, we are witness to the terrific abundance of joy present in the faces of all who came to celebrate with us. There is a great deal of psychology at play in photographing people. Mark is smart and has a sensitivity that enables a truth to be evident in his work. That is what we wanted, not something posed or stiff. We were thrilled to catch glimpses of the first images so soon after the wedding. We were so lucky, our day felt absolutely perfect, and Mark's photographs confirmed this! We were a hit!

I can't say enough wonderful things about Mark! I chose him as my videographer from his reviews off of yelp! I was scared about randomly choosing someone off the internet but after reading the reviews I felt confident about emailing and making a phone call to him. From the first phone call I had to the last email Mark was amazing! He was on time, very professional and just top notch quality work. I loved my video and the package it came in! I wish I would have booked him as my photographer too but I had already left a deposit with another one. Mark Laing is so personable . He is so talented at getting the essence of the wedding couple, but also captures the venue, details that you don't normally get from most photographers. He captured water from a fountain that was just beautiful at my daughters wedding , I can't tell you all little details he captured, that are so important. When you plan a wedding its all about the details and Mark gets it on film . I have never seen wedding pictures that convey romance as Mark does . His pictures make you feel as if you are there.

Mark recently took pictures at an inaugural scripted reading event I hosted at the Writers Guild of America West on behalf of the Committee of Black Writers, and he did a fantastic job!
